Micky van de Ven Double Ends The Toffees' Unbeaten Streak at New Stadium

Micky van de Ven found the net on two occasions as Spurs prolonged their unbeaten run on the road in the Premier League and delivered the Toffees their first defeat at their new home.

Everton were undefeated in their last five matches at their recently opened stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, having left Goodison Park behind after more than a century at the conclusion of the previous campaign.

The Everton defender believed he had equalized the tally a short while after the defender's first goal, glancing a powerful header past Guglielmo Vicario from an Everton corner.

Beto, meanwhile, failed to convert a handful of chances, while Vicario made a series of excellent saves to guarantee Tottenham went five matches on the road without defeat in the English top flight.

But the VAR stepped in, instructing Craig Pawson to review the score on the pitchside monitor and the referee ruled that Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye were in an illegal position and had impeded with the Spurs keeper.

This victory moves Thomas Frank's team into third place in the Premier League, five points off north London rivals and table-toppers the Gunners.

The Merseyside club stay 14th and are six points ahead of the drop zone.

Spurs breakdown: Van de Ven excels in role at both ends of the field

After a drab midweek performance in the Champions League against Monaco, where they managed a mere attempts on target, Frank opted for the French striker up front instead of former Toffees player Richarlison.

The summer signing was unable to make much of an impact before being replaced for Richarlison after 60 minutes on the pitch, but it turns out he wasn't needed in the end.

Van de Ven was just as outstanding in defensive duties, partnering effectively with his defensive colleague as the duo dealt superbly with the numerous deliveries sent their way by the opposition.

Toffees breakdown: Toffees missing finishing touch

Everton's recent stadium had been a fortress, but it appears the novelty may have worn off somewhat and supporters flocked to the gates after the midfielder's third for Tottenham.

The end in the team's unbeaten home run will not be a major concern for the manager, but their striker situation are.

The forward and the other striker - the Toffees' pair of established strikers - had netted only one league goal between them before the weekend's outing.

And they were unable to add to that poor tally on a damp and dreary evening on Merseyside.

The striker's form was epitomized when he opted to bicycle-kick a golden opportunity from near the goal, despite having room and time to readjust for a more conventional attempt that would have tested the keeper.

Barry, as well, failed to influence the game after replacing the starter in the second half.
