Peacemaker Second Season Last Episode to Address Major Fan Complaint, James Gunn Confirms

While audience feedback for Peacemaker season 2 has been mostly favorable, with fans and critics applauding the performances and storyline—even if the big twist in the seventh installment wasn't exactly a shock—a particular criticism has only grown stronger as the season continues: decreasing runtime lengths.

Over the past few episodes, viewers have expressed disappointment over the noticeably shorter episode lengths this season, and it's true, the episodes have been progressively briefer. The seventh episode, called “Like a Keith in the Night,” ran just 28 minutes (excluding the summary, opening credits, and end credits), marking the briefest installment yet.

You'll be happy to learn next week's episode is nearly an hour in length.

Series creator and DC Universe head James Gunn posted via social media, responding to a disappointed fan.

Although this is encouraging, it remains unclear exactly how much of the 57 minutes will be actual new footage, free from intro and outro segments, or recaps of previous events. That said, even if the episode includes all the previously mentioned non-essential content, that would still allow for roughly three-quarters of an hour for the concluding episode, which is a significant improvement following the previous installment.

Gunn previously hinted that the last episode would not only wrap up Peacemaker but also give a hint regarding the future the greater DCU at large will be heading and act as a kind of precursor for the upcoming Man of Tomorrow film. Given the brief appearance of the actor's portrayal of Lex Luthor from episode 6, fans expect a exciting guest appearance to cap off the show.

The show's finale, episode 8, is titled "The Full Nelson," and we'll just have to wait to find out if fans' suspicions are proven correct.
