On the eve of his half-decade plus one year in charge, Mikel Arteta has admitted that his longevity in North London is directly connected to winning major honors.

The Spanish coach was appointed on the 20th of December in 2019 and promptly led the team to an FA Cup triumph a short time later. However, that first major trophy remains his lone top-tier trophy following the departure of Unai Emery.

“Absolutely,” the manager said in response to a query about staying beyond 2027. “But it’s about today. And numerous factors have to happen in the coming months as well to warrant that continuation.”
