Uche Sparks Dominant Crystal Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their maiden continental adventure, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding win that virtually secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight entry to the last 16, particularly after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were outmatched against a largely second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

Dominance Established from the Outset

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had hit the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Game

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
